Adolescent Behavioral Consulting offers a unique service of coordinating efforts to re-establish order and balance within the household for families dealing with adolescents in varying degrees of crisis. The process begins with a phone call followed by a sit down in the home with the parent or parents and their child. We learn about the current challenges and determine what intervention is appropriate for the particular situation.
A masters-level helping professional then begins spending as much one-on-one time as possible with the adolescent, working to establish a relationship with the child to gain clear insight and understanding of their point of view, and the actual variables contributing to their self-destructive behaviors. During this process, we also work closely with the parents, coaching them to strategically adjust their interactions with their child to affect positive behavioral change. If and when appropriate, we may make referrals to other helping professionals like therapists to offer additional support.
