Thank you for visiting Adolescent Behavioral Consulting’s free parenting resource blog. Information included in this blog will be written for parents with children from pre-teens to young adults.
Parenting any age child is challenging and the difficulties seem to grow as children reach adolescence. After years of working with parents of teens, I’ve come to realize that while many of the obstacles that parents face are common, many parents think that the issues with their particular teen are unique. Objectivity is an important factor in effective parenting and hard to achieve in isolation from others’ perspectives.
This blog will offer an opportunity for parents to read about some common issues facing parents from simple areas like the importance of curfews to more complex areas like drinking and drug use. My posts will use real-life examples, while maintaining confidentiality of those involved, and will also state how issues were resolved.
Thank you for visiting. I encourage you to bookmark this blog or you can sign up on this page to receive blog post notifications by email. Additionally, you may find our Online Parent & Teen Forums on this site helpful for a more interactive resource to seek advice from people in similar situations. People participating in Internet forums can maintain anonymity while cultivating social bonds and support as interest groups for a topic may form from discussions.
